Katsina Anti-Corruption Commission Hosts Inaugural Public Awareness Conference on Corruption and Cybercrime

The Katsina State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission held its first-ever public awareness conference on corruption and cybercrime on Monday, 9th December 2024. The historic event, led by the Commission’s Chairman, Justice Lawal Garba, took place at the conference hall of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, located along Kaita Road in Katsina City.  

Organized to commemorate the United Nations-designated International Anti-Corruption Day, observed annually on 9th December, the conference brought together experts and stakeholders to address critical issues of corruption and cybercrime. Prominent speakers, including Dr. Mukhtar Alkasim, Dr. Bashir Ruwangodiya, and others, presented insightful papers on the challenges and solutions in combating corruption and online criminal activities.  

Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, officially inaugurated the event on behalf of the state government.  

The conference was attended by key dignitaries, including the representative of the State Chief Judge, the Commissioner for Justice, the State Commissioner of Police, representatives of other security agencies, civil society organizations, and community groups. The event highlighted the collective effort required to tackle corruption and cybercrime effectively, underscoring the state's commitment to transparency and accountability.
